The purpose of our center is to perform innovative collaborative research focusing on topics related to substance abuse, HIV/AIDS-related risk behaviors, and other related topics using our state-of-the-art methodological and statistical approaches.

We collaborate with drug abuse and HIV/AIDS researchers across the country and around the world in addition to world renowned researchers at UCLA.

We have augmented our original focus on adolescent substance use and abuse with an extensive research program that concentrates on high risk and vulnerable populations.

We synthesize substantive, theoretical, and applied aspects of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS causes and consequences. All work is grounded in the sound methodological and statistical advances developed in the Center.
